History
In the middle of the second decade, (Year 1986), since the exodus of 1972 of Ugandan Asians into the UK, mainly of Indian descent, a group of friends from East Africa came together on a dark cold winter evening to help those in need and serve the community who did not have any active representation in the UK.
In the summer of June 1986, with the help of Southall Lion member Late Dr Arun who encouraged his friends Late Lion Manubhai Patel and current serving founding members Lion Kanti Nagda, Lion Bhasker Patel, Lion Harisukh Dave, Lion Sumant Desai, Lion Dr Vinod Doshi, Lion Dr Manek Patel and Lion Dr Jatin Desai formed a sister club which was named Greenford Willow Tree Lions Club formed on 17 June 1986 as a not for profit organisation and on 9th October 2020, the club became a Registered Charity (Registration no. 1191733 England and Wales)
Our Club
Greenford Willow Tree Lions Club to date has 30 members and growing.
We have been serving the local community since 1986. Whilst our focus is always on helping the poor and needy,
we also endeavour to work with our local community to encourage participation and promote Lionism.
Since inception our club has raised and donated over £750,000 to local, National, and International Causes.
As part of the world’s largest service organisation, Lions Clubs International (LCI), Greenford Willow Tree Club
no 49481is based in Harrow in Middlesex. We are in District 105A for Lions Club UK. The main activities of the
club are to raise funds on a continual basis to donate to charities and other deserving good causes in addition
to providing any service to the community that may be needed. Supporting projects abroad and in the UK, our
motto is ‘we serve ’and our remit to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Meeting
Our Regular monthly dinner meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at Blue room sports bar and restaurant based at Headstone Lane, Harrow from 8.00pm to 9.30pm
